And now, here’s that new Chandler CD we’ve been threatening for so long,
the lightning fast follow-up to his 1993 debut “writer-songsinger”,

Painstakingly recorded at six different studios over a period of five years, this latest effort proves that the Great Artist in question can indeed go for fifty minutes or so with a (relatively) straight face (at least, if he’s not on stage.)

Aided and abetted by a large and varied cast including drummer Abe Laboriel Jr., seven-string jazz guitarist Fred Fried, Incredible Casuals bandmates Aaron Spade and Steve Wood, producer Bill Scheniman, and a host of others, Travis -or “Mr. Wonderful”, as he prefers to be called -has fashioned fourteen songs that lean toward the quiet side, but are still remarkably varied. Even longtime listeners may be surprised at how little of the material on “Ivan” is familiar, though some will recognize “(You and Me) Pushin’ Up Daisies”, “Ball the Wall”, “Haircut”, “Air, Running Backwards”, and the title cut, most of which appear in drastically different arrangements.

The real surprise for most folks, however, may be that words like “dignity”, “intelligence”, and “restraint” actually apply here, leaving the singing and songwriting to stand (or fall) on their own for a change.
