I think I like the movie David Lynch better. But this one was really long! It had it's moments.

Star CTP fan Fred Boak has complied a couple of lists cross refrencing the many recordings available from the Philharmonic and the
Casuals If you wanted to find a particular song this could help. In time we may create a data base for all this.

There is a spider living on my monitor. Right in the upper left hand corner of the screen. It's a little spider. It does not have much of a web. I suppose I will eventualy evict it but for now she is good company. So last weekend consisted of a trip to the Boston Ballet. on friday. On Sunday I mixed for Bim Skala Bim at the souwester.

The show was great. More mp3's soon. I am about to go see
Birdsongs of the Mesozoic in Ptown followed by a choral performance At the Comunity

I blinked and it was fall. What happened? All right the truth is I'm am lazy and shiftless and I neglected all this stuff all summer. When I looked at the server logs and realize that some one actually reads this stuff; now I am really embarrest. Well I moved the mp3's to a server that is actually in my home and thus not metered for space. So now I can put more of them up. Chandler has been pumping out the radio balls, once every two weeks. The cd's are remarkably well produced, mostly by Ricky. Chandler is rightfully concerned by my lack of coverage of the radio balls on the web page. I hope to correct that in the future.

Well I enjoyed The High Kings at the land ho last night. They were there celerbrating the new CD "boiled dinner" I also notice some rumblings from the west coast where aaron has launched mpop3.com It looks kind of fun. Seemes like the casuals site is also showing signs of life. Guess it's a spring thing

Well it is sunny on cape cod today. We are finally getting a break. For those of you who don't know, Cape Cod is damp, gray, and cold from September to May. It hardly ever snows here; it just hovers around the freezing mark and rains a lot.
In spite of my best intentions I have a hard time writing anything here. I think it is a combination of high standards and lack of talent. But anyway here is another try.
I saw Juliana Hatfield perform at Newberry Comics in Hyannis on Monday. I guess she is doing a bunch of in-stores to support her two new records. It was kind of strange because they were not available there yet. There was some kind of coupon thing. Anyway she was great. She didn't play for very long and it must have been hard to sing at noon under florescent lights.
I had a guest editorial in the Cape Cod Times on Tuesday. It was just an opportunity for me to trash Microsoft a little more. This followed being quoted on the front page last week in an article about Napster. Speaking of Napster, I guess they're doing pretty good. It is sort of fun watching trolls like metalica pick a fight with them. Bringing up Napster is a good way to get a lively discussion going in a bar especially if there are any musicians there. It seems like people are divided on the subject. About half of the folk's think it is wrong because it is theft of intellectual property. I think it is a little more complicated than that. First of all if every download were a lost sale, then the record industry would be consuming all the money on the planet. In fact, sales of CD's are up. I see it another way. It is very hard to get your records available everywhere, but easy to get a few mp3's on the net for all to down load. So this way every one has a chance to here new music. This can happen with a minimal expense for thew artist and no expense to the consumer. This can be a great way to get new music out in the world. Considering the fact that most of the radio stations owned by big corporations and grinding out demographically tested, safe, 'classic hit' formats, this is perhaps one of the only way's for new music to get heard. Also, most mp3's sound like shit. It is more like a replacement for radio. In my opinion it is the record industry who has been ripping off artists and the public for years and the net is a good tool to free artists from having to run the gauntlet of the music business in order to reach their fans. Also lets face it takes time to download a bunch of mp3's and burn them. If CD's were reasonably priced no one in their right mind to go through all that hassle. I like the oil change analogy. You don't see the availability of oil and filters shutting down the oil change industry.
This June will see the Incredible Casuals performing as a Trio at the Beachcomber. (Johnny, Chandler, and Ricky) Not to detract from the tremendous song writing, singing, and playing that Aaron Spade brings to the band, but for old timers like me this will be a lot of fun. Now if we can only convince Steve Shook to dust off his guitar…..
12:04 PM 04/12/2000 So yesterday was a day for seeing people I know in print. Bill Scheniman aka bear was in the Roland magazine, Jeff Gibson and Susan Ball were in the Cape Codder, and Shawn Fanning aka Napster was in some NYtimes thing for kids. Shawn is really getting around. His site is very popular. Napster is one of thoes companies to get rich and powerful with NO INCOME. Investors are flocking to to invest in the company. I guess having a couple of million people using their free product helps.
12:20 PM 2/17/00 Well I fell off the horse and now, I am back. I make no promises for the future but seeing as Chandler and I have this CD to promote I will most likely start weeding the site and try to make it more of a fun, happening place. I am recording a few bands here at the spacious Trout Towers. I took over a few projects that Aaron started at the Shack. One of them Was Ghoul Squad. Well Ron has a new project, “Wish Penny” and we have a pile of tracks that sound pretty good. Also “Earth Jr.” Is putting the final touches on their forth-coming disk. We are dusting off “Your Sounds” for re-release. It will have a new version of Destiny (sans Sam) The mp3’s are working better on my site. There was a problem at the ISP that made it difficult to download mp3’s for a while but that is now fixed. I spent a weekend in Mount Tremper, NY at the Zen-Mountain Monastery. IT was very interesting. I think I will go back.
11:40 PM 10/05/1999 The Casuals have a cut on a new cd on the sound asleep label. The Disk "Hit the Hay vol.3" is a collection of American music by Jerker Emanuelson from Sweden. The song "can't believe in Summer" Was written by Aaron Spade who btw has recently put together a new web site for NRBQ. You can go there to read about their 30th anniversary show in NYC. Here at Trout Towers We recently completed a demo for a new band "the Dumpster Junkies"
3:30 PM 09/24/1999 Just to show how much of a nerd I am, slashdot has posted a submission from me 'whiteprints'. It's nothing great but hey 30 seconds in the sun.
1:18 AM 09/23/1999 My friend J Harrington Sent me this announcement. I guess it speaks for itself. I could always tell when the good bands played this summer at the Beachcomber; cause that was when Jay and his friend Brian Gibbons whould show up.
10:03 PM 09/22/1999 So you would think after all this time, I had better come up with some thing good. You know news of my travels far and wide. Or a little essay on how much the world has changed. Or mabey a fresh flame about those nasty suv's. That was in fact a big part of the problem. Each day that past with me not posting raised the bar a little bit. After a while all I could think about was how underwhelming an event this post would be. oh well. There is an interesting site started by my friend Shawn. It is a tool for trading mp3's with strangers. You down load his client. and run it and It connects to the server and gives you a searchable list of mp3's. (100,000 or so) Each song's entry provides info as to the quality and the speed of the connection. It automates download so it can get interupted and pick up where it left off. This is kool because it means that anyone with an internet account can distribute music.
July 7, 1999 We added a new mp3 today. This is a song by the Great Glen Styler, performed by The CTP recorded live in Chatham a few weeks ago. If anybody has any trouble with the mp3's please let me know by email thanks.
July 6, 1999 Lou McMure commented that he could tell it was summer cause my boat was in my yard. I did in fact launch my hobie 16 yesterday at Rock Harbor in Orleans and sailed up to Wellfleet harbor. It was a nice break after a long weekend. It is always a pleasure to see the Luster Kings up at The Beach Comber. They played Sunday night.
July 4, 1999 Well in a couple of hours, The Incredible Casuals will take to the stage of the beachcomber for their weekly Sunday afternoon performance. The Beachcomber staff has been working insane hours to keep up with the holiday demand. The three big weekends on Cape Cod (Memorial Day, forth of July, and Labor Day) are very different than the rest of the summer. A lot of people only come down on those weekends. These people must have a very distorted view of the way things are here. The weekends in June and September are much nicer.
July 3, 1999 Well the hoards have descended on to our little peninsula. SUV driving, cell phone wielding, yuppie tourists. It might be something in the air but people’s driving skills are decidedly worse when they come over the bridge. And where are the fashion police when you need them? Remember when manufacture’s labels were on the inside of clothes? Now it seems the theory is that if you spend a lot of money on designer clothes, you need to make sure every one knows it. Do I sound cynical?
July 1, 1999 Here is a list of things I have been doing on the days I did not post anything. I know both of my readers are really mad and want answers. Well I have a lot of lame excuses. Most of the time I read I am reading slashdot a really good time waster if you are an aspiring nerd. I also go to The register for a British perspective. Both these sites deal with the software industry.(That is sort of an oxymoron). I spend a great deal of time drinking tea at The Chocolate Sparrow in Orleans. They have a very diverse range of customers, united by there love of caffeine. The kids at the sparrow attracted the notice of a Boston Globe reporter. here
June 23, 1999 For twenty one days I have had nothing to say. I think that sheer laziness played a role. I could always lean on the "I'm so busy" excuse. But considering that this takes so little time That does not really hold up. So what has been going on? The Beachcomber is open full time now but they are not having bands on mondays or tuesdays. As the sound guy I am glad to have a couple of nights off a week. "NRBQ" played in Chatham and that was a lot of fun. "The Borderland Allstars" played at the Beachcomber saturday night. Bad name, great band. The summer traffic has decended on our little town like a plague. The worst part is those &*@!%^@#@ SUV's. There are people who drive along, alone, in there seven ton Expedition with their cell phone glued to their face. Did you know you chances of causing a accident doubles when you are talking on the phone in your car? The bozos don't care. They are not the ones who will get hurt. "They are so safe, I feel so secure" When gas prices in this country rise to average world levels, and they will, perhaps we will see less of this madness. On a more upbeat note, this coming weekend, Trey and baitfish possie will decend on the Beachcomber for another "Dune Tunes" weekend. This means four bands friday night, eight bands on saturday starting at 4:00. This is a good party and a chance to see some new, up and coming bands without treking to Central Square. If you are coming, make sure you get there at four to see "Earth Jr.", The only band from Cape Cod. If you happen to find your self on Nantucket, "The Incredible Casuals" is at the MUSE on Friday and Saturday.
June 2, 1999 Babaloo sent me their new cd "hardcore Juju" They played the gala opening of The wellfleet Beachcomber. The CD sounds great.
June 1, 1999 Memorial day weekend came and went. If you are reading this and you drive on Cape Cod listen carefully. This is important. When you get to a rotary, YIELD!!!!!! The car AREADY IN THE ROTARY ALWAYS HAS THE RIGHT OF WAY! It's clear that people on vacations seem to have trouble with advanced concepts, but try to get this one it's not hard.
May 23, 1999 I was excited to here that the Beachcomber has had the good sense to book Earth Jr. on Friday June 4th. We have been recording Earth Jr. at Trout Towers and soon we will be done. Look for an MP3 here soon. Speaking of the Beachcomber, I hope you are all going to make it on friday to see The Incredible Casuals in a rare, after dark performance, Friday night May 28th. They will then start their regular sunday routine on June 6th.
May 20, 1999 If you find yourself on Cape Cod this Weekend, You might want to check out the Chandler Travis Philharmonic at the Souwester in Chatham on friday. For a small bar, these guys have done ok. Recent shows have included NRBQ and Roomful of Blues. It is a little room but the sound in there is pretty good.
May 20, 1999 Well just to show that I can be influenced by lavish gifts like cars, meals, vacations, or tickets to pro Sporting events,(red sox rule!) I want you all to check out the boston ska web page. It is a good resource for up and coming ska bands and the like.
May 18, 1999 If any one has seen this man please email us right away
May 18, 1999 In the process of listening to an Adat recording of the Chandler Travis Philharmonic from The Midway, we came across a short segment of Brown Eyed girl. It had such a unique quality that I wanted to share it with you
May 17, 1999 I saw a good band a few weeks ago. Mr Airplane Man is a duo, drums and steel guitar. They were opening up for Morphine at the middle east. Those of you who know me will be impressed that I actually bought the CD. Check out the web site. Here at Trout Towers we are speeding toward the conclusion of a project with Earth Jr. Look for a mp3 at the end of the week.
May 15, 1999 Well the silence in deafening. It's true. no one ever looks at this page. Well that certainly takes the pressure off. Chandler looked at it once and commented that since it was me doing the writing that the graphics were probably a good idea. Thanks for the vote of confidence Chandler. Speaking of Chandler, we have a new history page where a few posible names are floated for the forthcoming philharmonic Record.
May 14, 1999 Two Questions come to mind. One does any body ever look at this page? and does the formatting matter. The author, still languishing with a @$*&#$%#@! dialup connection, has grown weary at the slow loading, blinking, overloaded sites. The sound card is off to avoid the lame looping or midi sound tracks. So the question is do the vistors to this site care about pictures, fonts, mouse-overs, and little blinky things?

May 14, 1999 You may want to check out the new Casuals 'mp3 club' It looks like it could yield some interesting stuff. The New York Times has a couple of interesting things about the music industry. It requires a free registration to access. Here is the other one. If You find the mail in your inbox dull you may want to drop a line to chandler and get on his list. Even if you don't live near the bars he is playing in, the email is at least entertaining.
May 12, 1999 We do a great deal of recording here at Trout Towers. We really like the tools we have collected. The primary one is SAWPlus from Innovative Quality Software. This 32 track Recording program runs under Windows NT and works very well. That along with the Multiwave Sound Card and a CD burner is what keeps us busy.
May 11, 1999 I put up a track from the new Philharmonic album. This is the only track that gets a parental advisory for lyrics. There is also an mp3 of 'Something Right About It" from Chandlers 'Ivan in Paris'. Jay Cournoyer has been doing a little recording here. This is a track from his solo project. He is also working on a project with the High Kings. Believe in Magic, a distributor in Japan, is distributing Sonic Trout CD's by The Casuals, Chandler Travis, and the Flying Pigs. NRBQ is going over there soon and this has peaked some interest in Johnny Spampinato's other band. Aaron Spade, The Incredible Casuals' 'bicoastal boy' will be returning to the east coast to play sundays at the Beachcomber.
May 10, 1999 Hello. This is my new page. What do you think? Kind of minimal but you know it's hard to know what to do with all this crap. What with javascript, mouse overs, blah blah. I've started an overhaul of the page many times and given up. Too many constraints. You know it's got to be 'cool' and yet not slick. It's got to be pretty, but it has to load fast. I'm sick of the whole game. So what's been going on here at Trout Towers? Well the Incredible Casuals have their own site. It's been up for months. I figured I should link to it. I spend most of my waking hours looking at slashdot A cool site if you are interested in the open source movement. I have been recording Earth Jr. A great trio from Cape Cod. And another project with Jay Cournoyer. Chandler Travis and his band the Philharmonic have a few songs they are finishing up. They also have a new record, Her Spanish Suitcase, that should be out soon. The flying pigs are about done with a new record. The Wellfleet Beachcomber is gearing up for another season. So that's it for now the old moldy home page is here. More soon
